I’m excited to announce that the new ‘Rod Edwards VR‘ portfolio app has just been accepted and released in app stores. The app works with Google Cardboard VR (using Apple & Android devices), Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Go VR headsets. It even works fullscreen on all mobile smartphones, without the need for a VR headset.
New ‘Rod Edwards VR’ app released and available for free download from stores
I’ve worked closely with my VR partnership team in Munich, Germany. Together we have developed the application using Unity rather than online web based VR technology. Unity based VR apps are far superior to online WebVR experiences, as they give smoother movement (less motion sickness), higher resolution and more interactive functions and features. App based VR is also a more mature technology that has been tried and tested, so it won’t break with the next OS update (we’ve not forgotten Apple!)
The app can be downloaded on the relevant device using the links below …
iPhone : The new Rod Edwards VR app can be downloaded for free from Apple App Store here. Alternatively, just search Rod Edwards VR in the App Store, download and install. It works well with your iPhone using an affordable Google Cardboard VR headset, but even better in a higher quality smart-phone based headsets such as the VR Primus VA4. The app works with iPhone 6 or later but, as the whole viewing experience relies upon the phone’s internal processor and screen, the latest generation of high pixel density (ppi) OLED iPhones give the best results.
Android : The new Rod Edwards VR app can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store for Android based smart-phones here. Alternatively, just search Rod Edwards VR in the Play Store, download and install. It works well with your Android smart-phone using an affordable Google Cardboard VR headset, but even better in a higher quality smart-phone based headsets such as the VR Primus VA4. The app works with any Android phone using version 7 OS (Nougat) phone or later but, as the whole viewing experience relies upon the phone’s internal processor and screen, the latest generation of high pixel density (ppi) OLED phones gives the best results.
Samsung Gear VR : The new Rod Edwards VR app can be downloaded for free from the Oculus Gear VR Store here. Alternatively, just search Rod Edwards VR in the Oculus Gear VR Store, download and install. Samsung Gear VR works best with Samsung S8 or later (but sadly does not support the Galaxy S20 or Note 10.) Since the whole Gear VR viewing experience relies upon the phone’s internal processor and display, the latest generation of high pixel density (ppi) OLED phones gives the best results. The Gear VR headset also gives a far smoother experience than Google Cardboard headsets, as the internal electronics buffer the playback gives less motion sickness.
Oculus Go : The new Rod Edwards VR app can be downloaded for free from the Oculus Go VR Store here. Alternatively, just search Rod Edwards VR in the Oculus Store, download and install. The Oculus Go VR headset is a fully self contained device that gives a far smoother experience than Google Cardboard headset. The Oculus Go VR headset also gives a far smoother experience than Google Cardboard headsets, as the internal electronics buffer the playback gives less motion sickness.
